Meet Dr. Seaver Soon

Seaver Lee Soon, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon and cosmetic dermatologist with expertise in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. The values of integrity, partnership, and putting his patients first guide his approach to clinical medicine.

Dr. Soon graduated summa cum laude from the Arts and Science Programme at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, completed his medical degree at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University, and his dermatology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a one-year Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic dermatology fellowship at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California. He served in the Division of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery at Scripps Clinic for 11 years.

Dr. Soon specializes in the prevention and early detection of skin cancer, as well as advanced treatment options for skin cancer, including Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive facial surgery. He has a special interest in the management of skin cancer in high-risk populations, such as solid organ transplant recipients or people with hematologic malignancies. In collaboration with the Scripps Center for Organ Transplantation, Dr. Soon founded the Scripps Transplant Dermatology Clinic to provide patients with risk assessment, education, preventive care and individualized treatment.

Regarding cosmetic dermatology, Dr. Soon aims to achieve natural, lasting results. He has specialized training in a range of cosmetic procedures, including surgical lifting procedures, neck liposuction, cosmetic eyelid surgery, injectables to improve facial wrinkles and contour, as well as laser, microneedling and chemical peels to restore skin color and quality.

Dr. Soon's clinical research focuses on cosmetic dermatology, the treatment of advanced skin cancer, and transplant dermatology. He teaches regularly at national and international conferences on the topics of surgical reconstruction, skin cancer, chemical peels and transplant dermatology.

Dr. Soon is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the International Immunosuppression Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative (ITSCC), and the International Peeling Society. Dr. Soon currently serves as co-chair for the scientific program committee for the International Peeling Society, as a mentor for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Future Leaders' Network, and on the Board of Directors for the International Immunosuppression Transplant Skin Cancer Collaborative (ITSCC).
